Description of Position

With the ever-increasing technological complexities in the world of supercomputers, we need talented computer and electrical engineers to be part of our team architecting, designing and verifying the next generation of high performance computing solutions (HPCS) that will support of our mission. Our goal is to provide supercomputers of the highest quality to ensure the success of the NSA and its partners.

The areas of responsibility may include one or more of the following:

– Accelerating application performance using Register Transfer Level (RTL) design
– Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) firmware development and integration
– RTL design closure using logic simulation, functional verification, synthesis, and timing analysis
– Printed Circuit Board (PCB) logic design, simulation and test
– PCB layout
– Signal Integrity / Power Integrity
– Commercial systems acquisition and contracting
– Create and maintain documentation on technical information
– Operate specialized scientific and technical equipment
– Attend conferences and communicate with people in a particular technical field to keep abreast of new technologies and information
– Conduct research including studies, experiments, and investigations

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible).

Position Summary
As an Engineering and Physical Science professional, you will use your skills to create the systems and tools that will be used to enhance the operation of intelligence. You will advise, administer and perform scientific projects, such as planning, designing, and constructing specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to sound engineering and scientific standards and principles. The NSA offers multiple areas of focus for facilities engineers, including computer, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural. In addition, we are seeking skills that include computer design, microelectronics, radio frequency design, and systems engineering. Apply your science and engineering skills to protect the nation.

Mandatory Qualification Reqs
Salary Range: $70,519 – $87,868 (Entry/Developmental)

With a professional Engineering degree, entry is with a Bachelor’s degree and no experience.

As a member of the M2C2 Program, this position will be responsible for assisting the Change Management team with the management of change requests across all program components.   • High level technical PCB design skills using the Mentor Graphics design toolset.
  • Minimum of 8 years direct experience of the following is a must: Xpedition environment with working knowledge of Xpedition VX1.1. Advanced level skills to include placement, routing, use of the auto-router, constraint manager, xDM and xDM Library Client. Use of BluePrint to create complex PCB drawings and limited dimensioned flex and rigid flex drawings.
  • Must have experience designing complex flex (Type I, II, & III) and rigid flex (Type IV) designs with PTH and SMT. Skills to include signal integrity export and analysis.

Responsible for interfacing with electrical, mechanical and producibility engineering disciplines to ensure that the overall design requirements are captured and accomplished. Job responsibilities will include providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. An understanding and wide application of technical theories and concepts in the field of PCB design and manufacturing is required.

Required Skills:

  • High level technical PCB design skills using the Mentor Graphics design toolset.
  • Minimum of 8 years direct experience of the following is a must: Xpedition environment with working knowledge of Xpedition VX1.1. Advanced level skills to include placement, routing, use of the auto-router, constraint manager, xDM and xDM Library Client. Use of BluePrint to create complex PCB drawings and limited dimensioned flex and rigid flex drawings.
  • Must have experience designing complex flex (Type I, II, & III) and rigid flex (Type IV) designs with PTH and SMT. Skills to include signal integrity export and analysis.
  • Export manufacturing data of both Gerber and ODB++ and use of Valor Design Rule Checking software.
  • Must be able to develop technical solutions to complex problems through use of ingenuity and creativity with minimal supervision. Ability to route with and without autorouter in order to minimize layer count and increase producibility.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work autonomously while establishing schedule and priority needs.

Specialty Engineering is part of Systems Engineering that complements the technical activities required to deliver a project.
