Principal Systems Engineer/Section Manager

Job Description:

We are currently hiring a Principal Systems Engineer/Section Manager to join the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS)) team in McKinney, TX.

The Section Manager will be responsible for the Technical and Managerial oversight of approximately 10-15 individuals. The Section Manager will be an integral part of the Whole Life Engineering team performing technical work on MFRFS programs.

The Section Manager is responsible for the leadership, performance development, administration of work assignments, resource allocation/planning, and career development of the section members. The Section Manager provides mentoring to members of their group and is responsible for developing organizational goals for their section. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with Raytheon Policies & Procedures and accurate time reporting by all section members, and participation in talent acquisition and retention.

Technically, the Section Manager is responsible for ensuring flawless execution against program requirements, managing project cost accounts using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and the development of both technical and cost proposals. Section managers support the organizations long-term strategic planning and have the opportunity to support various initiatives across the engineering Cross Business Teams (CBTs) and The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED).

The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

WLED core competencies include Safety Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability Engineering, Affordability Engineering, Risk and Opportunity Management, Logistics Engineering, Training, Technical Publications, Parts Availability/COTS Management, Parts and Materials Control Board (PMCB), Spares and Material Management, Repair & Upgrade, Depot/Field Engineering, Systems Integrity, Failure Reporting and corrective Action System (FRACAS), and Availability Engineering.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills/Experience:
8+ years of engineering in one or more of the following areas:

  • Safety Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability Engineering, Affordability Engineering, Risk and Opportunity Management, Logistics Engineering, Training, Technical Publications, Parts Availability/COTS Management, Parts and Materials Control Board (PMCB), Spares and Material Management, Repair & Upgrade, Depot/Field Engineering, Systems Integrity, Failure Reporting and corrective Action System (FRACAS), or Availability Engineering.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Education:

  • BS in Engineering or 8 years of applicable, related professional experience in lieu of a BS/BA.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • General engineering expertise and technical skills to engage peers, superiors, and subordinates across the various IDS CBTs and IBTs as well across Raytheon Corporation and the industry.
  • Experience with Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) and the Gate process. Familiarity with MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-882
  • Ability to define, develop and deploy organizational specific processes
  • EVMS Certification
  • BOE Certification
  • Demonstrated oral and written presentation skills.
  • Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-pasted environment
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining good working relationship with all levels of the organization, including customers, and supporting functional organizations.
  • Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Ability to travel.
